Oregon allows Death with Dignity, which means a doctor may prescribe lethal drugs to a dying patient. Washington state will soon allow this practice: physician assisted suicide (PAS) is on tomorrow's ballot and expected to win.
Hawaii does not sanction the practice.
Think about it, though. The biggest boost Grandma could give Barak would be to time her dying for today. She died today. Did she purposely overdose on pain medication to help her grandson win the election? Did he say, "you can make up for your past racism by dying the day before the election"? Did she feel a duty to die?
Or, did some attendant at the hospital recognize today would be the best day for her to die? Was she helped into dying on the right day?
Was it a self-imposed duty? Sinister conspiracy? Or merely a fortunate coincidence?
